1) PROPERLY PREPARE YOUR SUBFLOOR! 🧹 Make sure it’s clean and level by sanding high spots and filling low spots. Before beginning, you’ll want to remove all baseboards and install a moisture-resistant underlayment.
2) LET THE WOOD ACCLIMATE! 🌡️ Before you install, let the hardwood sit and acclimate to the room’s temperature for at least 5 days, which should be between 65 and 75 degrees F. This will prevent warping and shrinking.
3) KNOW YOUR INSTALLATION METHOD! 🔨 To properly prep, find out which installation method is best. There’s glue-down, nail-down, or click-lock depending on the hardwood product you purchase and the subfloor you’re working with.
